About Us

East Lothian FM was created in August 2011 when a group of like-minded enthusiasts gathered to discuss the possibility of creating an Online Community Radio Station to serve East Lothian.

We acquired and self-financed a fully equipped small studio in the centre of Haddington and a recruitment drive followed which resulted in a number of volunteers joining the station. The ELFM logo and website quickly followed and Internet broadcasting commenced on the 10th October 2011.

Since then we have been broadcasting 24/7 and have established ourselves as an honest, friendly and well respected asset to the county. Our reputation continues to spread and we are attracting a growing audience from both East Lothian and World-Wide.

In addition to our original partners, we currently have a further eighteen volunteers of all ages working alongside us and we would be happy to talk to anyone else that is interested in getting involved. Currently our youngest volunteer is eight years old and our oldest is in his sixties.

East Lothian FM is the trading name of East Lothian Community Media Ltd - a not for profit company (Limited by Guarantee). Our on-going expenses are met by regular subscriptions from our volunteers plus local advertisers and individual show sponsors. We are also able to accept donations through PayPal via the Donate button on our FAQ page. All contributions, no matter how large or small are really appreciated and used solely for the development of the station.

No one connected to East Lothian FM receives any financial reward whatsoever.
